Colcaprile is a private 16th-century villa a few kilometres from Assisi, set on a panoramic position over the Umbrian valley. It's family-run in the most genuine sense: they welcome you as guests, not as clients. And that difference shows in the photos.

I've photographed here several times and every time I find something new: the pool with the view opening over the valley, the inside of the villa with its beams and warm tones, the olive grove at sunset. It's a venue that works with you, not against you.

Photographing a wedding at Colcaprile

The pool with the view is the most photographed spot — and it's easy to see why. But Colcaprile's real secret is the inside of the villa: wooden beams, exposed stone, light coming through the narrow windows. That's where you find the photos couples don't expect.

The olive grove at sunset is perfect for portraits: warm light, long shadows, a horizon that opens up the frame. I work a lot on the move — I don't wait for the couple to stop, I follow them as they move through the space.
