Castello di Rosciano

Torgiano — Perugia

A medieval manor on the hills above the Tiber, with views stretching from Perugia to Assisi. The sunset light hits the stone here in a way that stays with you.

Castello di Rosciano has Etruscan origins, was destroyed by the Goths in the 5th century and rebuilt as a Lombard fortress. Today it is one of the few castles in Umbria authorized to hold legally recognised civil ceremonies on-site — a rarity that greatly simplifies logistics for couples.

I've photographed several weddings here over the years. My favourite spot is the stone staircase leading to the ceremony: the light comes in from the side, faces emerge from the shadow — it's one of those places where a few steps are enough to find a photograph that holds on its own.

HOW I WORK HERE

Photographing a wedding at Castello di Rosciano

The stone staircase leading to the ceremony is the photographic heart of the castle: side light, contrast between shadow and stone, faces emerging naturally. I don't need to stage anything — just follow the ritual and be in the right place at the right moment.

The view over the Tiber valley is perfect for sunset portraits. The medieval tower, the garden, the loggias — every corner has its own light. In the evening, with torches lit along the avenue, the castle becomes something else entirely.

I work with the Realwed™ Method: I observe, anticipate, shoot when something happens. Moments never run dry here — you just can't miss them.

THE METHOD

I don't follow a style: I follow you

The Realwed™ Method is not a formula. It's a way of working on the field: present without being intrusive, attentive without being directive. Every couple is different, every venue has its own light, every day has its own pace. I adapt — not the other way around.
